Haircut

So I'm not the best at taking pictures of myself obviously haha. I got my haircut the other day and I feel a lot better now. My hair was long and my bangs were past my chin. My last haircut was at Christmas time so a haircut was much needed. When I asked Ryan how I should cut my hair...if I should cut it short into an a line again or just get it trimmed, he said that he liked it longer. I cut it short anyway :) and he ended up really liking it.

Safety Bracelets

Everytime we go to the NEX (the Navy Exchange store on base) Ryan wants to buy parachute cord and I always say no. A couple weeks ago Ryan found a pattern online to make safety bracelets out of the parachute cord. They are called safety bracelets because each bracelet is made out one long piece of the cord (except the mixed color one)... usually 8-16 feet long. You are supposed to wear them like when you go hiking or something so if you get into trouble you can undo your bracelet have a good amount of cord to help you get out of your bad situation or whatever. Ryan thought that they were pretty sweet so we made some and he is happy now.

Pismo Beach

Ryan had a 3 1/2 day weekend for Memorial Day so yesterday we went to Pismo Beach. Ryan and his buddy rented wet suits and boogie boards. last summer me and Ryan went together and rented boogie boards...it was a lot of fun but I for some reason couldn't catch the wave haha.

This trip to Pismo I pretty much just sat on the beach and soaked in the sun. We bought Marcie some sand toys...and thank goodness we did because she ended up not liking the ocean so much.

I went down to the edge of the water at one point and the coolest thing ever in life happened. So me and Cherie were standing in the little waves and all these things kept hitting our ankles. We were like what the heck is that...so we looked down and there were baby turtles all around us going out to sea in the waves! It was so crazy. I don't know how they made it to the water with all those people on the beach and birds in the air or how we were the only two people to even notice them. I had my camera in hand but by the time I thought about it and was going to take a video they were farther out and deeper in the water :(

I just happened to put sunscreen like everywhere except my fat, swollen and dirty feet haha. Ryan got mad at me once he noticed. But his back got just as burnt as my feet. Everywhere else was fine except silly random spots that got missed.

Baptism

A few weeks back the Sister Missionaries asked if they could teach a young man at our house and of course we said yes. He only had a two lessons at our house but he became friends with Ryan. He is in the NAVY as well and lives in the barracks because he is single. While he was being taught he quit drinking and smoking and all that good stuff. His baptism was last Saturday and he asked Ryan to baptize him. When we got to the stake center they couldn't find any more jumpsuits to fit Ryan...so he ended up with these huge scrub pants. It was pretty funny.

Tribal Dance

Last Friday Ryan performed a tribal dance with a group of guys he works with at the hopsital. Ryan was volunteered by someone else to participate so he wasn't very excited about it...but I believe he enjoyed doing it in the end. Their performance was part of the Asian Pacific American Heritage Month ceremony. They were supposed to wear lava lavas but obviously ended up with a lot less on. Luckily Ryan had some basketball shorts on underneath unlike some of the guys there...they just had their undies! They painted six packs on themselves and some other war paint. Ryan is the whitest one and he is on the very right when they line up at the beginning. :) And the part where everyone is laughing they are shaking their bums.

Snail

On my way home from walking to get the mail I found this silly snail on the sidewalk. I picked him up and decided to take him home to my sidewalk :) so I could show Cherie and Marcie and Ryan when he got home from work.

This is what happened to the poor snail when Marcie woke up from her nap and went outside...I don't think she ever even saw him. Haha It was funny but sad.

Marcine's Birthday

Yesterday was Marcie's 2nd birthday. I took her to play at the park behind our house in the morning while Cherie and Ryan were at work. Cherie brought a pizza home with her from work for the party.

Marcie got a lot of toys. She got a toy that helps her with her alphabet as well as a laptop that helps with numbers and letters. The laptop is good because she always gets jealous of Cherie's. She got a bubble blower, a really cool pool where she sits in the mouth of a crab and it sprays her, a swimsuit, and some other stuff.

We didn't wrap any of the presents but she had a good time playing with them and she loved getting to talk to everyone on the phone wishing her happy birthday.

Las Vegas

Ryan wants a Subaru STI really bad but we obviously can't afford one nor do I really care to have one. So Ryan decided instead he could just get an STI engine to build in the garage for a project. He looked and looked on the internet for engine but couldn't ever find exactly what he wanted or for a good enough price. Then he ran across a listing on craigslist for an STI engine block for $400. He called the guy and he said Ryan could have it for $300 since we would travel to pick it up. So last Saturday me and Ryan drove 6 hours to Las Vegas, picked up the engine block with the crank, ate at Reb Robin (Ryan's idea so I wouldn't be mad about the whole thing haha) and then drove 6 hours back home. The guy Ryan bought it from used to own a shop which is no longer running so he is just trying to get rid of all his supplies he had left. So happy early birthday to Ryan. (It was his idea that it could be his present)

He has started cleaning the engine block as you can tell in the picture. After he cleans it really well he has to get a few parts to help put it together. Ryan and his brother want to build an STI together and race it...whatever :)

Date Night

This last Saturday me and Ryan finally celebrated our anniversary. We went to Outback steakhouse for dinner. I had the outback special 6 oz steak and Ryan got a BBQ chicken dinner with a side of shrimp and of course we got a blooming onion. After dinner we went to a bakery. I got I yummy piece of cheesecake and ryan got a lemon bar. After eating we went to the movies and watched Date Night which was pretty funny. It was nice to finally get to go out to a nice dinner together and go on an actual date. We never get to go on dates really because we never have money.

This has nothing to do with date night but last week I was released from being a Webelos den leader :)

Broken Crib

Before we left for Washington we got a free crib and changing table from some people on base who were moving. We were excited to not have to buy them anymore and the ones we got were in perfect condition and they matched eachother!

Well I'm so mad at myself....the other day after my appointment at the hospital I had my first car accident ever!...with the crib! I pulled in the garage and was stopping and hit the crib at like 2 mph and broke the leg like crazy. I cried because I was so upset. Ryan said he will be able to fix it but I don't know I guess we will see.

We do have a bassinet we are going to use at first anyways but I hope Ryan will be able to fix the crib still.

Appointment with Midwife

This last Thursday I had an appointment at the hospital. It ended up being with the midwife I don't like instead of the doctor I usually go to. I arrived 15 minutes early and the midwife saw me 30 minutes late! But that's just how it goes sometimes. When the midwife first came in the room she asked me how everything was going and I said good. Then she sat down, opened my file, gasped, and then started looking at me up and down with a disgusted face.

...Ok I will give you a little background first...So when I first found out I was pregnant I took a prenatal class and there was a nutritionist there who told me I could gain 30-35 lbs instead of the 25-30. I have gained 38 lbs. so far but that's not too far off track...but I still have 10 weeks...

Ok so back to the midwife...so she was looking at me rudely and I knew exactly what she was thinking and the next thing she said was "someone got in the Easter candy". I was so mad. I know I have gained more weight than needed but gee wiz.

After my appointment with the Midwife I had to go to the lab to take the glucose tolerance test. I had to drink a fruit punch drink that was made of like pure sugar. The guy warned me about the drink saying that some people throw up and stuff but it wasn't as bad as he was making it sound...it wasn't good though either. So after I had the drink I had to wait an hour so they could take my blood. Of course when it came time to taking my blood they couldn't find my veins and dug around in both my arms for 10 minutes. And then after getting my blood drawn I had to give them a urine sample.

I was sad because Ryan had a patient at the dental clinic during the time of our appointment so he wasn't able to make it. By the time I was done at the hospital though (2+ hours) Ryan was already there standing watch at the information desk for duty so I was able to talk to him for a few minutes before I went home.

The next day I had to go back to the hospital to get a rhogam shot since I am Rh negative. When I was getting my shot another nurse came in saying the midwife needed to talk to me before I left the hospital. It made me nervous because the only reason she would need to talk to me would be to tell me bad news about the glucose tolerance test..which would mean that I am diabetic. They only talk to you if they have bad news about the tests not if everything is fine. But when she came to talk to me she said that my sugar levels were fine but I am anemic. Which is not news to me so I was relieved.

4D Baby Videos

The baby's heart beating

Baby practicing breathing

Baby sucking on a finger

Baby sticking his tongue out

Baby yawning

4D Baby

The baby yawning

The baby's feet

His face

The Monday we got back from Washington me and Ryan went back to St. Agnes Hospital in Fresno to get 4D pictures and videos of our baby. St. Agnes is where they told us we were having a boy and they do the 4D pictures and videos for free. It was cool to see the baby again and see his features better but of course he had both arms/hands up by his face the whole time. He his the biggest punk ever! :) Well from the pictures our baby has big chubby cheeks and a huge round Kofoed nose. I don't think though that you can tell what the baby is really going to look like yet though. Babies change so much in the first weeks they are born and I've never seen a baby without a round little nose so I guess we will see how he looks when he comes. The videos are really short and sometimes the pictures are hard to tell what exactly you are looking at. I emailed the pictures and videos to our families and the feedback I got from my family was that they are creepy and interesting...

The videos weren't working when I tried to put them on this post so I will try to post them later.

Trip to Washington

On April first we drove 17 hours to Moses lake. Ryan's Grandpa Sear passed away so we went home to be there for his memorial. I've never had my ankles swell before that trip. The night...well morning we got to Moses I realized as I was laying down in bed that my ankles had swelled. I thought that when my ankles would swell it would be evenly fat all the way around but I was wrong. My ankles had swollen doughnut rings around them! It was weird.

It was nice to be home. I got to eat at The Tree Cafe with my parents :) and Ryan went to a Muse concert in Seattle with his brother the first day we were there. We ate Chico's twice when we were home...once with the Jones' and once with the Kofoeds. We stayed at my parent's house so they filled up an Easter basket for us to share. :) Ryan's neices and nephews had an Easter egg hunt and Jonathan and Becca's house. After the egg hunt we all headed over to Grandma Sear's for Grandpa's memorial.

The memorial was really nice. It was held at Grandma Sear's and just immediate family was there. Madisyn sang a song, Krystalynn told her favorite jokes that her and Grandpa shared together, Danita read some emails from family, Grandpa's life story was told and everyone took turns telling their favorite memories and things about Grandpa.

We were able to stay in Moses for about a week. It was really nice to visit with everyone and see all the family. We visited Grandpa Jones. I believe he is 95 years old now. He still gets up everyday and does work in and outside the house but he doesn't think he is going to last much longer. He still looks pretty good though. I think he is a cute old man. :)

Full House

This past month Ryan's sister Cherie and her daughter Marcie moved in with us and it has been a lot of fun. It's nice having family around and people to actually hang out and talk to. It has been really nice weather so we usually go on walks everyday and take Marcie to the park. It is really nice on base because there are sidewalks and parks everywhere! We try to soak up all the sun we can.

Another plus of having them here with us is that Cherie is a cook! :) I took Cherie around to find a job and this past week she finally got a call back and got a job. So while she is at work I watch Marcie.

Marcie really did not like Ryan when they first got here but now that she has been with us she has warmed up to him. She wouldn't let him come close to her haha but now she will give him kisses. I think she likes him now because he always plays with her and he has the energy to throw her up in the air all the time and chase her around outside. It is really funny though because she calls both me and Ryan Kallie. Marcie doesn't really listen very well when I try to discipline her but she listens to Ryan when he does because he is scarier haha.

1st Anniversary

This last Sunday (March 21st) was our first year anniversary! The year seemed to go by pretty fast but a lot happened during it. We were together for 9 of the 12 months because Ryan was still in Chicago when we first got married to finish his training and I was in Washington. We weren't able to really go out and celebrate because we are poor poor poor. :( On Saturday we did go to Coldstone though because I had a coupon:) I had cake batter ice cream with gummy bears and Ryan had french vanilla ice cream with snickers. It was delicious and of course Ryan was jealous of mine.

Last Saturday we cleaned out the spare bedroom for Ryan's sister Cherie and her little girl Marcie. Ryan flew to Oklahoma Monday and helped Cherie finish packing and cleaning. They left this morning and are driving straight through. They will be here in the morning and I can't wait to see them!

Coupons

I started cutting coupons last month and this last weekend was a record…I saved $24 on groceries with coupons! It’s not near as amazing as that lady who can end up buying her groceries for a penny but it’s still awesome! I cut coupons from the huge newspaper we get on the weekend and from a few websites. Some of the websites I’ve used are: shopathome.com; coupons.com; and smartsource.com. Ryan had to buy Sunny D for a work fundraiser so I looked online and was able to get coupons from the sunny d site. I was afraid to use coupons at first because I didn’t want to be the annoying person at the store taking forever at the register with all the coupons but it really doesn’t take that long. All they do is swipe your coupon like they do the other items. So I don’t care if the people do get annoyed with me because I’m saving money! I use a little picture album book to keep my coupons organized.

Tax Refund

So we waited and waited for all of our tax statements to get to us. Once we finally got all of our statements we filed our taxes right away so we could get our refund sooner than later. We filed on February 22nd and the IRS said they deposited our refund in our bank on March 5th. So we waited and waited for our money to show up and it never did. We called the bank and the IRS to see if they could help us. At first the bank said they couldn't do anything and we just had to wait but our second call to the bank was more helpful...they actually looked it up and said they hadn't actually recieved it from the IRS. When we called the IRS we waited for like 20 minutes before someone could actually talk to us. All of our information was right when we talked with the IRS...they had the right routing number and account number and everything. So they told us that they would have to send us a paper to sign saying we didn't recieve our refund which would take 7-10 days and then once they recieved it back they would check to make sure we still haven't gotten our money and if we haven't they would send it straight to us which would take 6 or more weeks! So much for filing as soon as possible. But Ryan figured out last Saturday that we gave them the wrong account number....we gave them our whole card number instead of the 8 middle numbers that are our actual account number. LAME! So we still might get our refund before the IRS paper goes through but we still need to call the IRS again and see if they can fix it so we can get it sooner than the 6 or more weeks. We just want our money!

Taxes

We finally did our taxes yesterday. We waited a couple weeks for my statement from Big Bend to get to our house before we could start. Then once we started I realized I needed a statement from my loan I am paying off and I didn't have it. I called my mom and luckily she found it and found another statement she had for me so she opened them and told me the numbers I needed. So we are happy to finally get our taxes done. I don't know why people make such a big deal about doing their taxes every year. Once you have all your statements together it really doesn't take long to do them. We got a lot more than what we thought we would and can't wait for our money to get here. :)

Good-Bye Molly

We got rid of Molly a few weeks ago. We set up a post on craigslist for her and started getting called minutes after. We ended up giving her to this lovely family with two small girls and a baby boy. She will be happy with all those kids to play with.

It's a boy!

Another blurry picutre of his hands

You can't tell very well but these are his feet. He wouldn't hold still.

So this was the first picture the lady got haha. She was like oh goodness we are not going to get along because he is giving the finger.

Here are his boy parts he was very proud of. When the lady tried to get a picture of his privates he covered it with both hands and then when she tried to get pictures of other things he would just show us his privates.

Showing off his muscles

This is the baby's cute profile.

So last week on the 11th we went to Fresno to St. Agnes hospital to do our 20 week ultrasound. I had to drink 36 ounces of water an hour before our appointment and hold it until we were all done. It sucked! I was so scared that I was going to wet myself. It was the worst ever. I ended up having to wait 2 hours pretty much until my appointment but luckily the ultrasound lady let me go right away. They only reason they want you to have a full bladder is to get a picture of your cervix and then they want it empty for the rest. Ridiculous. The baby was giving the ultrasound lady a hard time because he was constantly moving. We were able to see all four chambers of the heart and we watched his stomach fill up and empty into his bladder. It was pretty cool. His femur is already longer than normal so he is going to be a tall boy.

Our Family

Ryan took this picture a couple days ago because we haven't taken any tummy pictures yet. I am 18 weeks along.

This is our most exciting part of our family. Our baby! The baby is 14 weeks along in this picture and it was moving its arm around. We find out if the baby is a boy or a girl in a couple weeks.

This is Ryan's fish Piccolo. He loves the scuba guy :)

This is our stinky dog Molly. She is a really good puppy but she is one of those dogs you have to bath frequently and that's no fun. She also sheds all the time! She was bloated when we took this picture. (if you couldn't tell) It was the night we got her and they had fed her one big meal instead of 3 small ones so she ended up pooping on our carpet!

This is our lovely house on the Naval Air Station Lemoore base. It's a really nice size house for the two of us. We have an itty bitty backyard that we don't really take care of and the work space in the kitchen is a little small but besides that it's lovely.

We have been married for ten months now. :) Ryan works at the dental clinic on base. I don't have a job currently but we have been looking. Hopefully soon I can help make some money to help pay our bills and fill our tummies. Ryan teaches sunday school to the twelve year olds at church and I was just called as a primary worker. I'm just a sub for now but they might assign me to a class. I am also a Webelos den leader.
